If/When + present simple, will

Use if + present simple to talk about a possible future action.

Use will/won’t in the main clause to talk about the result of that action.

we’ll (will) get to the campsite.
       
TIP
Say If I have time, I’ll help you. (don’t say If I’ll have time, I’ll help you.)

 

 

If or when?

When + future action = certain future action

If+ future action = possible future action

TIP
This is sometimes called the first conditional.
